Our Spanish + Demi-Pair Course in Seville
Combine 4, 8, or 12 weeks of Spanish class with a placement as a Demi-Pair in a Spanish family on our demi-pair course in Seville. What is demi-pair? You’ve probably heard of an au-pair before: someone who works for a family in a foreign country in exchange for room and board. Well, a demi-pair is the same thing, except you work a lot less!
The demi-pair course in Seville is a great option for anyone who likes kids and has experience caring for children. However, don’t worry too much if you don’t have the experience, you’ll learn fast on the job! It also cuts out a lot of stress, like looking for accommodation, as you’ll know exactly where you’ll be studying, working and living all before you arrive. Add on the fact that you’re Spanish studies will be perfectly complemented by the opportunity to converse with your Spanish family outside of the classroom and it’s a real win-win opportunity for everybody.

Why Seville?
Why would you not want to come to the land of sunshine? Yeah, that’s right, Seville is literally drenched in sun all year round. When you’re not studying or working with your family, you can spend your afternoons sunbathing on one of the hundreds of rooftop terraces in this city.
There’s literally so much to do and see in this city that your Instagram won’t have a chance to breathe. Explore the winding alleyways all over the city, the tapas bars on every corner, the miles and miles of orange trees, and the beautiful walk down by the river. There’s no place quite like Seville. Why don’t you come and see for yourself?
What will I have to do?
The duties of a demi-pair are varied and rewarding. Basically, you’ll be there for cultural exchange. While you’re living with the family, you’ll be considered part of the household and will be expected to help with childcare and some light household tasks (but only during your working hours).
How much will I have to work?
As a demi-pair, you’ll only be expected to work up to 4 hours per day, with one or two days off a week (depending on how your work hours are spread that week). You’ll have at least one whole weekend off each month. In total, you’ll probably work approximately 20 hours per week. This leaves plenty of time free for studying Spanish, exploring Seville, and maybe even learning how to flamenco dance?
How does it work?
- Fill in the application form we send you and prepare a cover letter (aimed at your host-family) along with two reference letters: one personal and one detailing any childcare experience you may have. Then send them all over to us at CLIC!
- We take a look at your details and start contacting potential families.
- We’ll arrange a Skype interview for you with a host family that is interested in you and that fits your profile.
- Submit the documentation outlined here (download) and wait for your formal confirmation of your course booking and demi-pair placement!
Important Information
The work you do for your family will be compensated with free room and board in addition to a small allowance.
Applications should be made at least 8 weeks in advance. All documents you use for the application may be written in English or Spanish. Your reference letters should not be written by a family member. They should be written by a former teacher or an employer, for example.
Due to the nature of working with children, it’s likely that we will require some or all of the following documents as a security precaution before we can confirm your placement:
- Photocopy of passport or national ID-Card.
- Passport photo.
- Medical certificate no older than 3 months before the start of your stay in Spain.
- Criminal background check, issued by your local authorities and valid in Spain.
- Photocopy of health insurance document, either private or public. (You should bring the original to Spain when you arrive).
- Photocopy of driving licence (if you have one).
- Photocopy of your latest qualifications (first aid, childcare, languages, sports etc).
- A selection of photos, for example with your family or friends, or, if possible, with children you have looked after before.
