What type of instructor will you have?
Of course your teacher will be a fluent English speaker, but at the C1 and C2 levels, the teacher must also have extensive cultural experience as well as excellent training as an instructor. At the C1 and C2 English levels, your teacher will not only have the Cambridge CELTA certification, she or he will also have obtained a DELTA certification. The DELTA is the most advanced training available for English teaching. Your teacher may also be a Cambridge examiner. At this level, you have to obtain native levels of written and oral English, acquire specialized vocabulary, maneuver phrasal verbs, and be familiar with expressions in every possible register: slang, informal, formal, journalistic, etc. To do all this, you need the guidance of a true professional!
Who are your classmates, and what is a class like?
At these levels, there’s no fooling around… Your classmates will have had to pass placement tests to enter C1 and C2. These tests are very strict and, at least at CLIC, we do not allow students to enter these advanced levels of English unless they have proven they truly belong there. The groups range from 8 to 12 students, who, most importantly, are at the same level. The goal is clear: to perfect your English. To this purpose, classes focus on the acquisition of complex vocabulary and style. A large portion of class time will be dedicated to speaking accurately and extensively regarding current events, the environment, work, the economy, and more. In terms of reading, you will be expected to understand and comment in-depth on articles from the news media or other specialized texts. Most likely, you will have to do homework outside of class hours.
Are you ready to begin a C1 or C2 English course? Hold on just a second! There is a step you must take first, one you cannot skip
Before starting an advanced English course, like C1 or C2, you are required to take a specialized level test. Only after you’ve taken this test can we place you in an extensive or intensive course. The English level test is free and requires no commitment. You will, though, have to schedule it ahead of time. It takes 30 to 40 minutes.
Here you can see our schedule for C1 And C2 English courses. If you still aren’t sure which course to choose, feel free to call us or come by the academy. No commitment is required, and we are happy to help clear up any doubts.
